Arsameia Ancient City

Arsameia developed as the Commagene Kingdom’s summer administrative center on the banks of the Nymphaios River and is an important archaeological site. The long Greek inscription carved into the rock face, the relief depicting Heracles and King Antiochus shaking hands, rock tunnels and palace remains are among the site’s most remarkable features. Together with Mount Nemrut, the Cendere Bridge and the Karakuş Tumulus, it is one of the key stops on the Commagene route.
