Pamukkale Travertines
Pamukkale brings nature and archaeology together in the same area with its white travertine terraces formed by the deposition of calcium carbonate carried by thermal waters, and the ancient city of Hierapolis immediately beside them. The thermal springs have been used since antiquity, and these waters also played a decisive role in the development of Hierapolis. The travertines and Hierapolis together are included on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.
