Ephesus Ancient City

Ephesus in Selçuk was inhabited for a long period from prehistory through the Ottoman era and, particularly during the Hellenistic and Roman periods, became one of the Mediterranean world’s major port, trade and cultural centres. The Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre, sacred sites and the surrounding early Christian heritage reveal the city’s multilayered character. Ephesus was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2015.
