Hierapolis Ancient City

Hierapolis is a large ancient city that developed around thermal springs immediately beside the Pamukkale travertines. With its theater, necropolis, bathhouse, sacred areas and monumental streets, it strongly reflects urban life during the Roman period. Its inclusion, together with the travertines, on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List is one of the most significant examples of nature and archaeology being preserved within the same area.
