Boyabat Castle
Rising on a steep rocky outcrop overlooking the Gökırmak Valley, Boyabat Castle is a powerful historic structure bearing traces of defensive architecture from different periods. Its foundations are said to date back to the Paphlagonian period, with Roman and Byzantine traces also visible; the character of its present-day walls and towers predominantly reflects the Ottoman period.
