Sardes Ancient City

Sardes was the capital of the Lydian Kingdom and one of the important trade centers of the ancient world. With its gymnasium-bath complex, synagogue, Temple of Artemis and the nearby Bin Tepeler tumuli, it demonstrates a long historical continuity extending from Lydia to Rome and Byzantium; Sardes and Bin Tepeler were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2025.
