Aphrodisias Ancient City

Aphrodisias, near Geyre Neighborhood in Karacasu, is an ancient city that developed in the fertile Menderes Basin and close to important marble quarries. The cult of Aphrodite, its sculptural tradition and high-quality local marble shaped the city’s fame during the Roman period. The ancient city and marble quarries were inscribed together on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2017.
