Osmancık Castle

Osmancık Castle rises on a natural rocky outcrop on the northern bank of the Kızılırmak River in the district center. The cultural inventory mentions rock-cut tombs pointing to the Roman period and traces of a water channel carved into the rock around the castle; during the Islamic period, it gained importance as a defensive point associated with the historic trade route passing through the area. Views of the Kızılırmak provide a striking visual setting for the historic fabric.
