Hattusa Ancient City

Hattusa, located in Boğazkale, is one of the most important archaeological centres in the history of Anatolia, having served as the capital of the Hittite Empire. Its palace and temple areas, monumental gates, fortification system and the many cuneiform tablets discovered during excavations provide essential information about the Hittite state system and religious world. Hattusa was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1986.
