Hattusa Ancient City
Located in Boğazkale, Hattusa was the capital of the Hittite Empire and is one of the most important archaeological centers in Anatolian history. Its palace and temple areas, monumental gates, fortification system and numerous cuneiform tablets uncovered during excavations provide essential information about the Hittite state system and beliefs. Hattusa was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1986.
