Alacahöyük

Alacahöyük, in Çorum’s Alaca district, is one of Türkiye’s most important archaeological sites for understanding the Hittite and Hattian worlds. Excavations that began in 1935 have revealed a multilayered settlement from different periods, Early Bronze Age royal tombs, and the monumental Sphinx Gate from the Hittite period. Visiting the archaeological site and museum together provides a clearer understanding of Anatolia’s thousands of years of cultural continuity.
