Rising on a steep rocky outcrop in Tokat city center, Tokat Castle bears traces of defense and use extending from the Roman period through the Ottoman period. Held by different rulers, from the Danishmendids and Seljuks to the Ottomans, the castle is also known for its rock tomb and narratives surrounding its historic dungeon.
