Onur Monument

The Onur Monument in Atatürk Park is one of Samsun’s city landmarks. The bronze statue of Atatürk, created by Austrian sculptor Heinrich Krippel, was inaugurated in a ceremony in 1932; the reliefs and inscriptions on its pedestal symbolize the process of the Turkish War of Independence that began in Samsun.
