Ottoman Capitals Tour

We arrive at Cumalıkızık Village. After having breakfast here (extra), we tour this beautiful village with our professional guide, visit the Green Tomb built in 1421 by Sultan Mehmed Çelebi, son of Yıldırım Bayezid, and then visit the Historic Clock Tower, the panoramic Irgandı Bridge, the 1326 Museum and Tophane in sequence. Afterwards, we visit the tombs of Osman Gazi, who ruled as a bey between 1299 and 1326, and Orhan Gazi, who reigned as sultan between 1326 and 1359. We then visit the historic Grand Mosque, commissioned by Bayezid I between 1396 and 1400 upon his return from the Battle of Nicopolis; it is where Hızır (Al-Khidr), known to Somuncu Baba, prayed, and is regarded as Islam’s fifth Haram. (You will be deeply moved by its spiritual atmosphere.) We then take an İskender break, one of Bursa’s signature delicacies, at a venue recommended by our company. (Extra) After the meal break, we visit historic Koza Han and the bedestens, then tour Gölyazı with its magnificent views and proceed to our accommodation hotel in Çanakkale.

After breakfast at the hotel, we travel to Eceabat and begin our Martyrs’ Memorial tour. In order, we visit Seddülbahir Castle, Namazgâh Battery, the monument to Corporal Seyit, who lifted a 275-kilogram shell, Rumeli Mecidiye Battery, Soğanlıdere Dressing Station Martyrs’ Cemetery, the passage, the Red Crescent and trenches, the Martyrs’ Memorial, Anzac Cove (panoramic), Yahya Çavuş and Conkbayırı. We then take a break according to the preference of our valued guests (lunch break – extra). Following lunch, we travel to Edirne, our border city where the mosques, bazaars, bridges and historic houses of Ottoman Thrace offer an intense experience of cultural heritage.

We visit the Three Balconied Mosque, famous for its gate, the Old Mosque (Grand Mosque), famous for its inscriptions, and immediately afterwards the Selimiye Mosque, which Mimar Sinan called “my masterpiece.” We then visit the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art, Bayezid II Complex Hospital and the Tunca and Meriç Bridges, before heading to our accommodation hotel. After dinner at the hotel, we rest to recover from this wonderful day.

We begin exploring Istanbul. We visit Eyüp Sultan, Fatih Mosque and Süleymaniye Mosque, then turn towards the Sultanahmet area, home to the city of empires’ oldest monuments. (From this point onward, all museums are within walking distance, so the vehicle will only be used on the return; we recommend bringing suitable walking shoes, as well as identification and a photo for the museum card.) This will be one of the most fascinating points of our tour... We visit the palace that Kanuni Sultan Süleyman presented to İbrahim Pasha as a token of his affection, opened to visitors after recent restoration work and currently used as the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art. We then continue by seeing the three beautiful obelisks remaining from the Hippodrome and the German Fountain. We visit Hagia Sophia, with its 1,500-year history and distinction as Istanbul’s largest mosque. We continue through Gülhane Park towards Topkapı Palace, the Ottoman dynasty’s residence for 400 years. We tour the palace and take photographs from its summer courtyard, where the Marmara Sea, Bosphorus and Golden Horn can be viewed at the same time. After visiting the New Mosque and the Egyptian Bazaar, we join a boat tour if we are ready for a wonderful cruise. After adding this beautiful memory to our collection, we conclude the tour and depart for our beautiful city of Trabzon.
