Cavustepe Castle contains the remains of Sardurihinili, a city founded during the reign of the Urartian King Sarduri II. Its upper and lower castle sections, temples, storage buildings, cisterns and impressive stone fortifications offer an opportunity to observe Urartian architecture in its original setting. It is an important archaeological stop that can be combined with a visit to Hosap Castle in the same day.
