Akdamar Island and Church
The Church of the Holy Cross, located on Akdamar Island in Lake Van, opened to visitors as a monument museum in 2007 following restoration. With its lake views, the island is one of Van’s prominent cultural destinations, particularly because of the church’s stone reliefs and historic architecture. The route from the shore of Gevaş by boat combines the lake and cultural heritage in a single excursion.
