Göreme Open-Air Museum

This rock settlement east of the town of Göreme consists of churches, chapels, a refectory and living spaces bearing traces of intensive monastic life from the 4th to the 13th century. The wall paintings inside the rock-cut structures reflect different techniques and periods. The museum is one of the most important stops for experiencing Cappadocia’s religious and artistic heritage in depth within a short visit.
