Philadelphia Ancient City
Philadelphia Ancient City in Alaşehir is a historic settlement that gained importance during the reign of Pergamon King Attalus II Philadelphus and continued to develop during the Roman and Byzantine eras. Because of its vibrant temple and festival life during the Roman period, the city was known as “Little Athens”; it also became one of the important centers of the Seven Churches tradition in Anatolia in terms of early Christianity.
