Philadelphia Ancient City
Philadelphia Ancient City in Alaşehir is a historic settlement that rose to prominence during the reign of Attalus II Philadelphus, King of Pergamon, and continued to develop throughout the Roman and Byzantine periods. Due to its vibrant temple and festival life during the Roman era, the city was known as “Little Athens.” It was also one of the important centers of the Seven Churches tradition in Anatolia during the early Christian period.
