Selimiye Mosque
Selimiye Mosque, the symbol of Edirne, is one of the most important works from Mimar Sinan’s mature period. Construction began in 1568 and was completed in 1575. With its central dome design, slender minarets, balanced spatial composition and complex buildings, it is regarded as one of the high points of classical Ottoman architecture. The Selimiye Mosque and Complex were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2011.
