Eshab-ı Kehf Complex

The Eshab-ı Kehf Complex in Afşin is a multilayered religious and architectural complex that developed around a cave regarded as sacred since Antiquity. The site is associated with the story of the Seven Sleepers in Christian and Islamic traditions. The complex expanded during the Seljuk period with structures such as a ribat, mosque and khan, while a madrasa, prayer hall and various additional buildings were added in later periods. Bringing together history, architecture and faith tourism in one location, it is one of Kahramanmaraş’s most important cultural routes.
