Harput Castle is a multilayered historical site with Urartian origins dating back to the 8th century BC, followed by the Persian, Roman, Byzantine, Artuqid, Seljuk, Aq Qoyunlu and Ottoman periods. Its location on the Harput ridges offers expansive views of Elazığ and the surrounding plains alongside the castle ruins.
